About us

Who is Kulturstudier?
Kulturstudier were initiated in 1997 by a group of social scientists and humanists.
The goal has from day one been to offer high-quality studies at locations that provide experiences which bring the academic content to life.
In addition to solid academic benefits, international competence, language skills, and new friends, students are left with experiences from another culture that they carry with them for the rest of their lives.
We are extremely proud of our skilled teaching staff who ensure that you as a student get the maximum benefit from your studies each semester.

Our values
It has long been a political goal to have more students participate in exchange programs.
Nevertheless, it is often a frustrating and lengthy process to go on exchange stays, especially outside of Europe.
We believe that everyone benefits from challenging their mindsets, attitudes, and habits.
Studying in countries outside the cultural sphere one is most familiar with is a unique opportunity to challenge the notions one has grown up with.
We want to make the path out into the world less daunting, and help to connect students and academics from Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

Offices and governance
Cultural studies has offices in 7 countries.
Our headquarters are located at Grünerløkka in Oslo – feel free to drop by!
We also have representative offices in Stockholm, Buenos Aires, San Isidro, Pokhara, Hoi An, and Cape Coast.
Cultural Studies is a joint-stock company owned by Rune Tjelland, Henrik Heggemsnes, Thorgeir Kolshus, Ola Marius Poppe, and Arild Naustdal.
The board of Kulturstudier consists of Ola Marius Poppe, Stine Navarsete, Rune Tjelland, and Helga Stumo Sande (chair).
Why study with us?
