Your local support team

Before departure, all students receive an arrival guide that contains essential information relevant to their study location.

This includes details on cultural differences, religious customs, norms, local laws and regulations, and the security situation in the study city.

Our local staff is available to support you should you experience any discomfort or uncertainty during your stay.

Feel safe abroad

We have several decades of experience with studying abroad, and are familiar with the situations that can arise and how to avoid most unpleasant experiences.

You can always contact us if you are concerned about anything or have questions about safety and healthcare.

Please note that we cannot provide advice on vaccines. We are not healthcare professionals. Contact your local vaccination office well in advance of departure.

Stay healthy in the tropics

Most students will only experience temporary and mild health issues. Stomach troubles, dehydration, and sunburn are common problems, but they can be prevented.

It is very important to drink enough water when you are in a tropical or subtropical climate to avoid dehydration and unpleasant symptoms.

Stomach troubles can be prevented by washing hands frequently, avoiding raw food, and buying electrolyte powder at the pharmacy.

Always use sunscreen with a high SPF, even if you don't plan on sunbathing at the beach. The sun in the study countries is much stronger than what you're used to from Scandinavia.

Mental health

Studying abroad brings challenges like adapting to new routines and cultures and possibly studying and living away from your parents for the first time.

If mental health issues affect your daily life, transitioning to another country and culture can be especially demanding. We strongly advise consulting your GP before deciding.

If there are specific issues we should know about or if you need detailed information to evaluate studying abroad as an option, please contact us in advance. Together, we can assess if this is right for you at this time.

Insurance

Insurance is mandatory; students must be covered throughout their entire study period.

Make sure your insurance covers any activities you plan to do during your free time, like mountain hiking, skydiving, and others.
