Why study Argentine History and Culture?
Read about why Professor José Luis Inchauspe thinks you should choose the elective course in Argentine history and culture as a student in Buenos Aires!

Everyone interested in learning more about Argentine history and culture will have their curiosity satisfied by choosing this subject.

The subject does not only focus on chronology and important historical events and dates, but delves into how Argentine culture has come to be, as the daughter of immigrants and dreamers, indigenous peoples, forgotten descendants of Africans. Argentine culture can be seen as a reversal of colonizing customs.
Every student will gain a broader perspective on the culture they experience in their daily lives in Buenos Aires, with an understanding of various sociocultural concepts that make everyday life and the surrounding culture easier to comprehend.

What I like best is to explore what can be categorized as "mixed media". I'm interested in literature, but also music, food, sports, movies, and everything that connects in a microcosm that ultimately builds up something we call "la argentinidad" (roughly translated: "Argentineness").
Teaching a subject like this, to me, is to share a bit of what with its contradictions and absurdities makes up the Argentine culture, which I myself am a part of.

The best part about studying in Argentina is realizing that culture, history, literature, and of course the language one is to learn, are not just theory, but something that as a student you will be able to experience yourself in your daily life.
